Building character through technical training for meaningful employment Natasha grew up gardening and tending animals on a small family farm, later working for a variety of businesses. Thus, she learned many practical skills while learning the value of hard work, honesty and truthfulness. Brian has long had a passion for helping people. An accomplished swimmer and lifeguard, he spent many summers helping physically disadvantaged children learn to swim. He volunteered at a home for mentally challenged people, and also served as a volunteer EMT. Serving ten years in the U.S. Navy, Brian excelled in aviation and automotive mechanics, and he worked in automotive mechanics for the past 17 years, earning many awards. He and Natasha married in 2000 and have three sons. Brian and Natasha volunteered for five years, meeting needs of the homeless and the impoverished in urban Portland, Oregon (USA) with the Bridgetown organization, learning many skills and insights related to populations at risk. Since 2009 Brian and Natasha have worked in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, where they started the Micah Technical School, building men of character while teaching them marketable skills in carpentry, welding, and auto mechanics.
