Serving America’s underprivileged communities

Derek Perkins and Karyn Farrar-Perkins have long had a passion for uplifting children and youth, focusing on mentoring and education.

Derek has been a mentor for boys, teaching them life principles while engaging their interest through art and sports. He has a heart for young people from all backgrounds with a special burden for African American young men.

Karyn has educated more than a thousand students as a teacher, as a middle school principal and program planner. She co-founded Harambee Preparatory School. Her students have graduated from colleges across the USA.

Graduates of Azusa Pacific University and Biola University, respectively, Derek and Karyn make their home in Grand Rapids, Michigan, advising urban faith leaders and educators nationwide.
